Blue Water Business Consortium Member Spotlight: Door County Brewing Co.

The best thing about running a family business? Family, of course. The McMahon family owns and operates Door County Brewing Company in Baileys Harbor. With a growing reputation for delivering “carefully sourced, eco-conscious beers” the brewery aims to source ingredients first from Door County and second from Wisconsin. For example, they use Door County-grown barley in all of their Belgian beers and have partnered with a local hop grower for 100% of his crop. The brewery also donates a portion of the sale of “Pastoral” to the Door County Belgian Heritage Center to help keep the history alive, has a tap room with no TV and only communal seating to encourage connection, and sponsors eight local silent sports events.
“We’re in the water business and clean water along with water conservation is all of our responsibility,” says Founder & CEO John McMahon about their decision to join BWBC. “We are also very aware of the importance of Lake Michigan to not only our business but to our community and we want to make sure we are all good stewards.”
