Don’t Mine Your Own Business

As Decision Time approaches on the possible opening of a sulfide mine on the banks of the Menominee River, we want to tell you about two upcoming events related to that project.

But first: one of the things that has us deeply concerned about a mine on the Menominee is that a mistake there could wipe out the benefits of a $7 million project we have been part of to restore the iconic lake sturgeon to the Menominee River and Lake Michigan. As for the events: River Alliance, in partnership with the Front 40 citizens’ group and the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, is holding a public forum about the mine at the Wausaukee Town Hall, 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23.
